Our Impact

For over two decades, MUCOBADI has strengthened community health systems and improved access to quality health services for vulnerable populations across Uganda.

  • Reached 53,545 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), caregivers and key populations with HIV prevention, care and treatment services under the ICARE project across 11 districts.
  • Strengthened health and governance systems in 29 districts, 150 health facilities and 18 community-based organizations.
  • Reached 27,500 households with integrated HIV and TB prevention, care and treatment services.
  • Provided mental health and psychosocial support services to 22,011 young people, improving emotional wellbeing and resilience.

Livelihoods Programs Impact

MUCOBADI empowers vulnerable households to overcome poverty and food insecurity by strengthening livelihoods, increasing household incomes, promoting climate-smart agriculture, expanding financial inclusion, and creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. 

  • Enabled 22,687 community members to participate in 792 VSLA groups, collectively saving over UGX 2.4 billion.
  • Provided economic strengthening services to 7,062 caregivers, improving household resilience.
  • Supported 4,257 children to remain in school through education support.

MUCOBADI promotes accountable governance, citizen participation and the protection of human rights by empowering communities to engage duty bearers, monitor public services and influence policy.

  • Strengthened accountability and responsiveness in education and health service delivery through a UGX 6.5 billion civic engagement programme in Moroto and Abim.
  • Improved accountability for HIV and TB services across 29 districts and 150 health facilities using community scorecards.
  • Built the leadership and advocacy capacity of 1,392 Girls and Young Women-led community organizations.
  • Enabled 11,050 rural young women and men to participate in community dialogue, district planning and budgeting processes.

MUCOBADI has continuously strengthened its organizational systems, governance, partnerships and operational capacity, enabling it to deliver high-quality development and humanitarian programmes at scale.

  • Grew from a community-based initiative established in 2000 into a nationally recognized NGO operating in more than one-quarter of Uganda’s districts.
  • Currently reaches 56,636 individuals annually through integrated development programmes.
  • Established regional operational offices in Bugiri, Jinja, Mukono, Kitgum, Moroto and Kampala, expanding national coverage and programme responsiveness.
  • Successfully manages an annual programme portfolio of approximately US$5 million.

Our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and we assess each application individually, but you’ll meet our key criteria if you:

  • Have at least three years’ experience in your professional field.
  • Have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Pass criminal record and background checks.
  • Can commit to the full duration of your placement.
