The Board of Directors led by Rt.Rev Samuel G.B Egesa plays a crucial role in providing leadership and guidance to the management team, ensuring the organization’s effectiveness and sustainability in achieving its mission and vision.

Rt. Rev. Bishop Samuel George Bogere Egesa: – Chairperson Board

Rt. Rev. Bishop Samuel George Bogere Egesa embodies a legacy of over 40 years as an ordained Bishop of Bukedi Diocese in the Anglican Church of Uganda. His esteemed service within the Church has traversed roles as a Parish Priest, Archdeacon, Diocesan Secretary, and Diocesan Treasurer. Bishop Egesa is a seasoned public speaker with deep-rooted expertise in leadership and management. His notable contributions extend to over 30 committees and Boards, reflecting his commitment to institutions such as Uganda Matryrs Museum Namugongo, Inter Religious Council of Uganda, and the Lusoga Bible Translation project. Bishop Egesa’s influence currently guides the path of MUCOBADI as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Robert Bob Wanyama: Board Secretary

Robert Wanyama has demonstrated his prowess in organizational capacity development coordination through his tenure with USAID/Uganda Rights and Rule of Law Activity. His extensive 16-year professional journey has taken him across various African countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda. Robert’s dynamic career has intersected with prominent International Agencies like GOAL Uganda, CHEERS in Nigeria, and World Vision Uganda. His expertise revolves around capacity building and institutional systems strengthening, particularly for Civil Society organizations, Local government, and the Private sector in Uganda. He has spearheaded consultancies focused on Partners Organizational Capacity Assessment & Strategic Capacity Building, resource mobilization skills training, and end-of-project evaluations. Robert’s diverse qualifications span Public Administration, management, and project planning. He currently holds the position of Board Secretary within MUCOBADI’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Musa Waiswa – Board Treasurer

Musa Waiswa holds the designation of a Certified Public Accountant and is a distinguished member of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). With over 16 years of hands-on experience in financial management, accounting, and auditing, Musa’s professional journey includes roles with SDA Church, Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), ADRA Uganda, and his current responsibilities at the Clinton Health Access Initiative Inc. (CHAI). In his capacity, Musa oversees audit operations across more than 30 countries. His subject matter expertise lies in Finance and Audit, which he has harnessed to establish and operationalize the Audit and Finance units across multiple agencies. Musa’s meticulous guidance has extended to training staff on Finance, Audit, and Logistics. He is an adept contributor to committees and Boards, serving in capacities such as President of AAYP, and now brings his expertise to MUCOBADI’s Board of Directors as the driving force behind the Audit and Risk Management Board Committee.

Mr. Richard Ekodeu – Board Member

Richard Ekodeu is a seasoned Public Health Specialist with a distinguished background in Leadership and Management. With an extensive career spanning over two decades, he has primarily collaborated with renowned International NGOs such as ICR Uganda, CARE International Uganda, War Child UK Uganda, SUNRISE-OVC Uganda Program, Catholic Relief Services Uganda, and Heifer International. Richard’s professional footprint extends across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His expertise encompasses program development, management, organizational capacity building, rural development, monitoring & evaluation, grant acquisition and management, and research. Richard’s academic qualifications include Public Health, Public Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, and Human Resource Management. He has actively contributed to various Boards, including the Board of Trustees for AIC, Alternative Care Initiatives, Rhino Fund Uganda, and presently serves as a valuable member of MUCOBADI’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Shafiq Butanda: – Board Member

Shafiq Butanda is an esteemed Principal Probation and Welfare Officer at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development. With a career spanning over 16 years in various capacities within District Local governments, Shafiq has excelled as a Senior Probation & Welfare Officer, Community Development Officer, and Gender & Youth Officer. His depth of expertise encompasses Research, data analysis, report writing, leadership, and management skills, all bolstered by a dedication to Adolescent reproductive health communication and programming. Shafiq’s engagement extends to Boards such as Network for AIDS Support Organization and the Gender Based Violence Coordination Committee, and he currently enriches MUCOBADI as a distinguished member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Edward S. Gaamuwa:- Patron

Mr. Edward S. Gaamuwa stands as a distinguished specialist in Human Resources and Organizational development, boasting over four decades of professional experience. His extensive journey has seen him engage in assignments and consultancies across various African countries, as well as within the USA. Edward’s local contributions span organizations such as ACLAIM Africa, World Vision International, and Dairy Corporation, while his international footprint encompasses support to agencies like the East African Community, Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars, and Nile Basin Initiative. Edward’s profound expertise has been channeled into trainings, capacity-building workshops, and advisory roles focusing on Leadership & Management, corporate governance, organizational performance management, and strategic planning. His guidance resonates within more than 20 committees and Boards, making him a patron of MUCOBADI’s Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors has several key roles and responsibilities, including:

Providing leadership in supervision of the management team: The Board of Directors is responsible for supervising and providing guidance to the management team in carrying out the organization’s day-to-day activities. This includes overseeing the implementation of programs, ensuring effective financial management, and monitoring staff performance.

Providing leadership in setting the vision, principles, values, and strategy: The Board of Directors is responsible for developing and setting the organization’s vision, principles, values, and strategic direction. This involves working with the management team to identify the organization’s goals and priorities and developing a plan for achieving them.

Approving the development of the strategic direction of MUCOBADI, including the adoption of the strategic planning process: The Board of Directors is responsible for approving the organization’s strategic direction and ensuring that it aligns with the organization’s mission and values. This includes reviewing and approving the strategic plan and providing guidance on its implementation.

Monitoring MUCOBADI’s performance in light of the approved strategies: The Board of Directors is responsible for monitoring the organization’s performance in achieving its goals and objectives. This involves regularly reviewing performance reports, assessing progress, and making adjustments as necessary.

Formulating and approving organizational policies and ensuring adherence: The Board of Directors is responsible for developing and approving organizational policies that guide the organization’s operations. This includes policies related to financial management, human resources, program management, and other areas. The Board is also responsible for ensuring that these policies are adhered to by the management team and staff.

Appointing Board Committees to assist the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities: The Board of Directors appoints committees to assist in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities. These committees may include an audit committee, a governance committee, or a fundraising committee, among others.

Fundraising for MUCOBADI’s programs: The Board of Directors is responsible for raising funds to support the organization’s programs and operations. This includes identifying potential donors, developing fundraising strategies, and soliciting donations.
