Our Achievements

MUCOBADI has been on a remarkable journey since its inception in 2000, working tirelessly to transform communities and create lasting change in Uganda. Over the years, our commitment to improving health, water and sanitation, rights and accountability and livelihoods has yielded significant achievements in the lives of thousands.

Enhancing Health and Well-being

In the realm of health, MUCOBADI’s impact has been substantial. Over the past one year, our efforts have reached an impressive 105% of the targeted beneficiaries, amounting to 34,084 individuals who have received vital health services. Notably, we extended support to 7,896 beneficiaries under the Global Fund for HIV, Malaria & TB, 1,200 under KPIF, and 24,988 through USAID/ICARE initiatives.

Focusing on our young generation, we provided essential education to 11,896 HIV-negative children, empowering them with knowledge for positive behavior interventions. For children living with HIV, we monitored 83% (3,044) of 3,683 individuals for viral load, with an impressive 88% (2,679) successfully suppressing the virus. Additionally, a remarkable 100% of children and adolescents living with HIV were supported to continue their treatment journeys, including 70 who had previously interrupted treatment but were successfully traced and returned to care.

Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation for a Healthier Community

MUCOBADI’s commitment to water, hygiene, and sanitation has resulted into positive WASH outcomes in communities. Through awareness campaigns, we reached 5,958 community members, igniting behavior change on WASH practices. Notably, 5,111 community members now have access to safe water, thanks to our linkage efforts with “Water For Life” and “Sprouts for Water.”

Our impact extends to households as well. We provided SATOPANs and support to 759 households, resulting in improved pit latrine coverage and achieving an open-defecation-free status. Strengthening community institutions, we trained 98 water-user committees and 5 handpump mechanics association groups, fostering a sustainable approach to water management.

Upholding Rights and Fostering Accountability

At the core of our mission is the pursuit of rights, accountability, and social justice. MUCOBADI has been instrumental in addressing abuse and violence cases, handling a total of 637 cases through District Action Centers across multiple districts. Our engagement with children and adolescents has also been impactful, with 19,229 school-age children benefitting from early life skills development training, becoming beacons of behavior change in their communities.

Equally significant is our work with adolescents, as 2,584 girls and boys received education incentives, ensuring their continued education and progression. We’ve empowered communities with 681 skilled advocates and mobilized 120 community groups, fostering evidence-based policy and advocacy for improved service quality and equity.

Nurturing Livelihoods and Economic Growth

Empowering communities with sustainable livelihoods has been a core focus for MUCOBADI. We’ve equipped 49% of the 5,367 supported households with training in financial literacy and 43% have successfully initiated income-generating activities. Through initiatives like the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), 14% of households have secured access to financial networks, while 300 households are now linked to the private sector actors.

Our interventions have propelled households toward economic growth, increasing the proportion of ready-to-grow households to an impressive 19% from 14%. We’ve provided essential support to 1,965 farmers, enabling them to thrive both on-farm and off-farm. Additionally, 2,015 youths have received startup grants, fostering personal enterprises and paving the way for sustainable livelihoods.

A Legacy of Impact and Progress

MUCOBADI’s journey of empowerment, resilience, and transformation continues to unfold. With a cumulative savings of UGX 557,230,200 realized by the communities, we stand as a testament to the power of collective action and unwavering commitment of communities in MUCOBADI’s programming.

As we reflect on our achievements, we also look ahead to a future of possibilities. MUCOBADI remains committed to creating positive change, one community at a time, and to continuing our journey towards a brighter, healthy and a more equitable Uganda.
