Yesterday, August 15th, 2024, MUCOBADI proudly joined Buikwe District local government and other partners to commemorate the Day of the African Child. This significant event, observed annually on June 16th since 1991, serves as a reminder of the pivotal role education plays in shaping the future of African children.
The commemoration, held at the Buikwe District headquarters, was graced by the presence of the district chairperson, Jimmy Kanaabi, who served as the guest of honor. The theme for this year’s event, “Education for All Children in Africa,” resonated deeply with MUCOBADI’s mission and the work carried out through our ICARE project.
MUCOBADI has made remarkable strides in supporting the education of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in the region. In 2024 alone, the ICARE project has provided comprehensive education services to a substantial number of OVC. These services include school subsidies, the provision of scholastic materials, and access to the OVC fund. A notable achievement this year has been the re-enrollment of 93 children who had previously dropped out of school. These efforts underline MUCOBADI’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances.
The Day of the African Child not only highlights the ongoing challenges faced by children across the continent but also celebrates the progress made in addressing these issues. MUCOBADI’s participation in this event is a testament our dedication to creating a brighter future for Africa’s children through education and empowerment.
