In 2024, MUCOBADI continued to tackle two of the most persistent public health challenges in Uganda: tuberculosis (TB) and malaria. These diseases, which disproportionately affect vulnerable communities, have been a major focus of our health programs. Through targeted interventions and community-centered approaches, we have made significant progress in prevention, education, and treatment. Here’s how:

TB Prevention and Screening:

    • MUCOBADI reached 9,009 individuals with education on TB prevention and treatment.
    • Screening drives were conducted for the same 9,009 individuals, identifying those at risk and linking them to healthcare facilities for further diagnosis and treatment. For many, this was their first interaction with TB services, ensuring timely intervention and reducing transmission.
  • Treatment Support:
    • Among individuals screened, 6,016 individuals were started on preventive treatment (TPT). Community health workers provided follow-up care, ensuring adherence to treatment regimens and preventing the development of drug-resistant TB strains.
  • Malaria Prevention Education:
    • MUCOBADI reached 6,016 individuals with education on effective malaria prevention methods. Topics included the proper use of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), eliminating stagnant water, and seeking prompt treatment for malaria symptoms.
  • Distribution of ITNs:
    • To further combat malaria, 6,016 insecticide-treated nets were distributed to households in high-prevalence areas. Families were also trained on how to use and maintain the nets for long-term effectiveness.

These efforts have brought hope and health to countless families. They highlight the importance of community involvement and education in addressing public health challenges.
