We’re excited to be part of the GBV Symposium happening in Bugiri District at the District Headquarters, a gathering where organizations, local leaders, and community members come together to talk about real solutions to gender-based violence (GBV).

This symposium isn’t just another event—it’s a chance to share what’s working, learn from others, and spark new ideas to tackle GBV and violence against children. For us at MUCOBADI, it’s all about making communities safer and giving survivors the support they need.

What MUCOBADI Is Doing to Make a Difference

We know that ending violence isn’t something you can do alone. That’s why MUCOBADI is rolling out a strategy that focuses on what really matters:

  1. Getting Communities Involved
Change starts at home. We’re working with families, schools, and local leaders to spread awareness about GBV and how to stop it. Conversations like these help break down harmful norms and build safer environments for everyone.
  2. Building Support Systems That Work
Survivors need a system they can rely on. That’s why we’re teaming up with local governments and service providers to ensure victims get justice and support, while creating prevention programs that work long-term.
  3. Empowering Women and Youth
Violence often stems from dependency. Our livelihood programs help women and youth stand on their own feet, giving them the confidence and means to lead independent lives.
  4. Providing Emotional and Mental Health Support
Healing goes beyond the physical. We connect survivors with counseling and mental health services, so they can rebuild their lives with dignity and strength.
  5. Advocating for Better Policies
We don’t just stop at community-level change. MUCOBADI works to make sure laws protecting children and tackling GBV are put into action.
Why This Matters

This work isn’t just about statistics—it’s about people. Families, children, and entire communities are affected by violence. The 16 Days of Activism remind us all that we have a role to play, whether it’s standing up against harmful behaviors, supporting survivors, or helping prevent violence in the first place.

At MUCOBADI, we believe the time to act is now. And events like the GBV Symposium in Bugiri show that when we come together, change is possible. We’ll keep pushing forward, one step at a time, to create a future free from violence.

Stay tuned for updates from the symposium and stories of how MUCOBADI is making a difference. Let’s stand up, speak out, and take action—together!
