HIV/AIDS is more than a health issue; it’s a challenge that touches families, friendships, and entire communities. For many, the fear of an unknown diagnosis or the stigma of living with HIV keeps them from seeking help. At MUCOBADI, we understand that behind every statistic is a person—someone’s parent, child, or friend. That’s why in 2024, we focused on providing not just medical care but also the hope and support needed to face this journey. Here are some of the stories behind the numbers:

  • HIV Testing and Awareness: Imagine living in uncertainty about your health. For 89,564 individuals, that uncertainty ended this year. Our testing campaigns, held in schools and villages, provided more than just a test—they offered hope and clarity. Today, 95% of those we reached know their HIV status, a critical first step in fighting the epidemic.
  • Antiretroviral Therapy (ART): For those who test positive, treatment is life-changing. Meet Maria, a mother of three, who joined the 42,789 individuals now on ART. Thanks to MUCOBADI’s support, Maria accesses her medication easily and is back to farming, her livelihood, while keeping her family safe. ART doesn’t just extend lives; it rebuilds them.
  • Viral Suppression: Viral suppression means better health and less risk of spreading the virus. Among the 39,520 individuals who achieved this milestone, James’ story stands out. A young father, James credits community counseling sessions for giving him the confidence to stay on his treatment plan. His suppressed viral load means he can focus on his future without fear.
  • Adolescent Outreach: Adolescents often face barriers to accessing health services. In 2024, we reached 12,500 young people through school programs, youth clubs, and peer-to-peer counseling. From condom distribution to open discussions about stigma, these initiatives empowered them to make informed choices. One student, Grace, shared, “I didn’t know where to start, but now I know how to protect myself and help my friends too.”

Through these efforts, MUCOBADI continues to turn the tide against HIV/AIDS. The work doesn’t just change statistics; it changes lives.
