Sharing with my family helped me accept my HIV status

54year old Isabella is an HIV positive widow and a mother of six who lives in Eastern Uganda.

She is a member of Umoja SINOVUYO group. She used to be one of those caregivers that believed in caning children, did not listen to them or share anything with them apart from food. Isabella had been taking ARV drugs for many years but had never disclosed to any of her children about her HIV status.

When she joined SINOVUYO, the group covered sessions like the importance of spending special time with children and praising one another. This helped her to relate better with her children and she revealed to her youngest daughter about her HIV status. Her daughter now reminds Isabella on the time of taking the ARV drugs.

Isabella also plans together with her children. She was able to borrow Ushs.15,000= and started up Mukene business.
